Tortillas, Tilapia, & Trenches
This morning we got to see another part of GCLA’s community. The tortilla factory and the tilapia tanks. Later this week we will have some for dinner, which I think is cool, but might freak y’all out!
Woman are able to come here to process their tortillas. Each batch they make is 8lbs and some make up to 8 batches/day. 8lbs will give 336! The machines will make 35,000 tortillas a day!
These women make roughly $4/batch that is profit. Some make up to $26 profit daily and $150-$200 a week. This is much higher than minimum wage!
In the afternoon we started working on Martha’s home. We also taught a bible story, did a craft, and played games with the children in the village. We laughed together, sweat together, and got poured on together. It was a great day!
It still blows me away at how loving this community is! Francisco is my new buddy. I’m already going to miss him when we leave here.
